Lingxiu Chong

Lingxiu Chong (AADip, Assoc. AIA) is an independent architect and cultural worker based in San Francisco. Her work across design, conservation and education aims to activate and transform historic artefacts and spaces around the world. She studied at the Architectural Association in London, and proceeded to practice architectural design with a focus on adaptive re-use and conservation, with Collective Studio and Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Asia, and with Page & Turnbull in California. She teaches architectural design with institutions including the Architectural Association and California College of the Arts. She collaborates on projects of various formats with like-minded individuals and organisations in arts and culture, including Gray Area, the Mechanics' Institute, AIASF, the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse, and others. She is presently director of Proto-Domestics, launched in 2020.
